In the fourth quarter of 2024, the performance of the top five communication apps in Ukraine showed notable trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. This analysis, based on Sensor Tower data, provides a detailed look at these trends.

Telegram from Telegram FZ-LLC maintained a strong presence with a significant increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $795K at the end of December. Downloads rose steadily, reaching around 111K in the final week, while active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 27M throughout the quarter.

WhatsApp Messenger experienced consistent weekly downloads, culminating in about 89K by the end of December. Active users saw a gradual increase, ending the quarter at approximately 9.4M.

My Kyivstar: mobile services showed a substantial rise in downloads, doubling from early October to reach nearly 118K in late December. Active users also increased significantly, closing the quarter at about 5.5M.

Rakuten Viber Messenger from Viber Media had a consistent revenue stream with a slight peak at $30K in mid-December. Downloads increased towards the end of the quarter, reaching approximately 73K. Meanwhile, active users slightly declined, maintaining close to 24.5M.

Messenger by Meta Platforms, Inc. saw steady download growth, peaking at around 51K in the last week of December. Active users also trended upwards, finishing the quarter at approximately 6.5M.
